BJP May Bring A Private Member’s Bill But Will Congress Support It?

Member of Parliament other than cabinet ministers (executives) is called the private members. The bill introduced by any such members in the Parliament is known as Private member’s bill and the bills introduced by Government is called Government bill. Government bill needs seven days notice for its introduction whereas Private Member’s Bill needs an early notice of one month. Government bill has more chances to get cleared. Contrary to this Private Member’s Bill is generally withdrawn or get lapsed. This Private member’s bill is brought into action to empower the MPs so that they bring attention to such serious issues which are usually ignored by the party. It aims to enhance the participation of young generation in the democratic process and lead changes.

Out of 300 totals, odd Private Member’s Bill introduced in 14th Lok Sabha, hardly 4% were discussed and all the other lapsed without being discussed even at least once.  Total 14 private member’s bills have been passed till date and out of this five of these were passed in 1956 alone. Rajya Sabha has passed Rights of transgenders person’s bill in 2014 which is still pending in Lok Sabha. Only 14 private member’s bill has been passed till date by both the houses and become law in the history of Indian Parliament.

Member of Parliament of BJP, Rakesh Sinha added a fuel to the fire by recently tweeting about private member bill. He questioned the people who keep asking BJP and RSS about when the Ram Temple will be constructed. He asked them will they support his private member’s bill on Ram Temple. He will present private member bill demanding the construction of Ram Temple in Ayodhya. It was a direct question to Congress whether they are in favor of Ram Temple or not. It will be an open and compulsory voting. This Ram Temple case is currently in Supreme Court. The court will decide it’s hearing in January. Sinha also questioned whether Rahul Gandi, Sitaram Yechury, Lalu Prasad Yadav and Mayawati support the bill. These all symbolize that BJP is planning to trigger a public debate to force their rivals to take their stand on the emotional issue. Whenever elections are near around, the usual news gets into a fire.
